Do a woman’s breasts weigh more than a Persian kitten? Handy chart from Japan lets you know

$

GB 0

Also, how many pancakes could you make with a pair of D–cups’ weight in batter?

While there’s definitely a fashion element to the marketing of lingerie, intimate apparel maker Genie’s primary goal is to provide comfortable bras for its customers. To illustrate just how important proper support is, the Japanese division of the U.S.-based company has come up with some unique ways to help people conceptualize the strain a woman’s breasts can put on her shoulders, neck, and back.

According to Genie, a pair of A-cup breasts weigh 326.3 grams (11.5 ounces). Just in case those numbers are hard for you to get a feel for, the company also says that A-cups are as heavy as a pair of chipmunks.

GB 1

As a matter of fact, Genie has calculated the weights and animal kingdom equivalents for a variety of bust sizes:

A-cups: 236.3 grams, or two chipmunks
B-cups: 447.5 grams, or five cockatiels
C-cups: 531.3 grams, or one newborn polar bear cub
D-cups: 758.8 grams, or one wigeon duck
E-cups: 1,006.4 grams, or one Netherland Dwarf rabbit
F-cups: 1,180 grams, or one three-month-old Persian kitten

If that still doesn’t paint a clear enough picture for you, Genie can also express the potential burden of a woman’s breasts on her body in another way. If you took the weight of a woman’s breasts, then mixed that weight in water with pancake mix, how many pancakes could you make?

▼ Breakfast time!

GB 2

● A-cups: 11 pancakes
● B-cups: 15 pancakes
● C-cups: 18 pancakes
● D-cups: 25 pancakes
● E-cups: 34 pancakes
● F-cups: 39 pancakes

These may be odd comparisons, but they definitely show the importance of proper support, even for women with modestly sized chests. They also show the importance of maple syrup when whipping up a stack of pancakes, but that’s sort of unrelated to Genie’s main message.

New Evangelion lingerie sets take styling cues from the hit anime’s male characters 【Photos】

Slip into some Shinji panties or a Kaworu bra with these new intimate anime apparel options.

While Evangelion’s popularity is largely built on a foundation of spectacular giant robots and unflinching psychological analysis, the anime also has a cast of cute girls that have captured the hearts of many viewers. So last year, it wasn’t too shocking when anime fashion label Super Groupies used three of Eva fans’ favorite females as the basis for a trio of bra and pantie sets.

Now, Super Groupies is back with more Evangelion lingerie, but this time inspired by two male characters.

EL 1

The first ensemble takes its cues from the plugsuit of series protagonist (and teen boy) Shinji.

EL 2

Along with a red ribbon evocative of the detailing on the chest of Shinji’s combat attire, the detailed lace trim is meant to serve as a metaphor for the delicate intricacies of the character’s emotional makeup.

EL 3

EL 4

Alternatively, there’s a lingerie set that incorporates elements of Shinji’s male/alien friend/soulmate Kaworu.

EL 5

Instead of lace, the Kaworu set features a stitched pattern referencing Evangelion’s most celebrated and mysterious piece of weaponry, the Spear of Longinus.

EL 6

EL 7

Both sets are made in Japan, with their panties being a nylon/polyurethane blend. The Shinji bra is made from similar material, while the Kaworu one is a mix of nylon and polyester. Domestic orders can be made directly through the Super Groupies website (Shinji here, Kaworu here) for 8,800 yen (US$85) per set between now and July 31, with delivery scheduled for late October.

Japanese lingerie company creates “Fest-Bras” to be worn outside during summer festival season

The popular lingerie retailer is daring its customers to bare their bras to the world this summer.

Ever since the company behind the maid bikini range made it known that their frilly black-and-white bikini tops were perfect for wearing outdoors at summer festivals, the trend for exposing curves in triangular-shaped bra-style tops is one that’s on the verge of catching hold in Japan. Quick to ride the waves of the new fashion movement, lingerie maker Peach John gets straight to the point with a new collection of “Fesu-bura”, or “Fest-Bras”, designed specifically for outdoor wear at summer music events and festivals.

▼ The PJ COLOURS scalloped bralette uses one seamless piece of fabric for a sporty look and retails for 1,680 yen (US$16.19), plus tax.

sub2

The strappy tops have been created with comfort in mind, featuring designs that contain no underwire, like the PJ COLOURS skinny strapless bralette, for 1,680 yen, plus tax (below, left) and the PJ BODY STUDIO back string short top which retails for 2,680 yen plus tax.

sub1

The PJ BODY STUDIO Short Top (2,980 yen plus tax) features two different coloured straps in bright pink and blue colours, while the PJ COLOURS Cropped Tube Top (1,480 yen plus tax) keeps it simple in a choice of khaki, black, or white shades. Both use a quick-drying absorbent fabric designed to keep sweaty festival-goers cool in the summer heat.

sub3

And if those designs all seem a little too demure, there’s the “Smile-ist Bra” (3,480 yen plus tax), which comes in four colours and acts as a cross between a push-up bra and a swimsuit top, for the more adventurous festival-goer.

sub4

If you really want to turn some of the attention away from the band on stage and towards yourself, there’s the Lace Bodysuit (4,980 yen plus tax), which would look good with a pair of cut-off denim shorts.sub5

Last year, Peach John produced several designs in collaboration with “Ultra Japan”, a huge dance festival event held in Odaiba over three days in September. The lingerie company is gearing up for the event again this year, with the ULTRA JAPAN × PJ Lacy Bra Top (3,241 yen plus tax) and the  ULTRA JAPAN × PJ Three-Line Tube (2,778 yen plus tax).sub6

The range of bras, bodysuits and crop tops can all be purchased from the Peach John online store, and to find out more about the ULTRA JAPAN dance festival, you can head to the official 2016 website here. Whether or not anyone will actually be brave enough to wear the “Fest-Bra” designs without covering up is something we’ll have to wait to find out, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for them when the music festival season gets into full swing this summer!

Japanese fashion magazine recommends women start wearing their bras over their T-shirts

Publication touts it as an easy, relaxed wardrobe choice.

I write about lingerie often. Really often, actually. I’m not sure that’s what my English teachers had in mind when they were trying to educate me on competent composition and facetious phrasing, but there’s no denying that intimate apparel is a subject with both a broad appeal and legitimate depth.

And yet, even I think Japanese fashion magazine Sweet is going a bit too far in the latest look it’s recommending.

As shared in a snapshot from Twitter user @rukiruki00, the currently on-sale issue of Sweet features a model showing off what the publication describes as a bold yet relaxed ensemble: wearing a bra over a T-shirt. To be clear, the magazine isn’t talking about a super-cropped camisole or midriff-bearing halter top, but an actual piece of innerwear worn as your outermost layer.

“At first glance, wearing a bra over your T-shirt is a bold choice, but maybe because of the monotone color scheme, it works surprisingly well.”

Setting aside that questionable conclusion regarding why someone would wear this, a number of queries spring to mind about how. For example, does the over-the-T-shirt bra take the place of the one you’d ordinarily wear against your skin? That seems like it would result in a poor fit and lack of support, but on other hand, so would wearing two bras at once. Are you supposed to go out and buy a whole new lineup of outerwear bras, or is it OK to simply use whatever one you happen to have handy? And how would this work with the outdoor Fest-Bras that are now on sale in Japan?

It’s too early to say if Sweet’s idea will catch on or not. As one online commenter pointed out, even the magazine’s model seems to be laughing at this unusual attempt to push the fashion envelope. If this look does take off, though, it’s probably only a matter of time until Sweet suggests something similar for jeans and panties.

Japan’s kimono-style bra and panties bring traditional motif to modern lingerie design【Photos】

Japan’s most playful intimate apparel company looks back to the country’s roots in creating its latest offering.

In its advertising, Japanese intimate apparel maker Peach John has often asserted that “Lingerie is love jewelry,” speaking to the company’s philosophy that it should help create an alluring mood. So far, we’ve seen Peach John’s commitment to eye-catching design result in Sailor Moon and Pokémon lingerie, and now it’s drawing inspiration from something even more quintessentially Japanese with its new kimono bra set.

kb-2

Featuring a flower motif on a field of crimson, reminiscent of the patterning on traditional kimono, the set includes not only a boldly styled bra and panties but also a robe that ties closed with a sash.

kb-3

Rounding out the package, which can be ordered domestically from Peach John here for 5,480 yen (US$53), is an ornately decorated hairpin, which would make for a nice touch even in fully clothed fashion ensembles.

kb-4

Granted, this lingerie set is quite a bit different from the sort of things women wore in Japan during the periods when people went about their business in kimono every day. But given that kimono have become more of a special-occasion garment in the present day, this could be just the thing to combine the contemporary and traditional, two forces that shape so much of Japanese aesthetics.

Japanese inventor creates musical strobe light bra that flashes to beat, adds fills when squeezed

$

It’s like a soft, silky dance club.

Having never met Japanese Twitter user @Ryo_Hatchet, I can’t say for sure how intelligent he is. He’s recently been accepted to graduate school, though, which is something that being a dullard usually precludes one from doing, so I’d guess he’s probably pretty smart.

There’s one other thing that suggests @Ryo_Hatchet might be a pretty sharp-minded guy. Numerous deep thinkers and/or crazy people have long asserted that there’s an intrinsic connection between genius and madness, and it looks like he’s got an ample amount of the later, since he’s invented a bra that lights up like a dance club and adds amped-up fills to the music when you squeeze it.

In the demonstration video of the working model, the inventor shows off the multi-colored strobe lights that he added to a TuTuanna D-cup bra. Synched up to his sound system, the lights flash in time to the beat, and squeezing the left cup sounds an air horn-like sample. “I made [this] for the party people all over the world,” he proudly announced when sharing the video, with his enthusiasm so great that he couldn’t reign himself in before adding, “I’ll share the technology for it, so please let me rub your chest” (which is an especially odd request when it seems like plenty of men, and not only women, will be reading his tweet).

Now, before you start asking what school in Japan has a graduate department of brassierial studies, it should be pointed out that it’s not clear if the interactive light-up bra is part of @Ryo_Hatchet’s formal educational research or simply a side project he’s pursuing in his spare time. Either way, he’s already looking to improve upon the prototype, with his next goal being to make it wireless (as in he wants to eliminate the wires connecting the bra to the sound system, not the garment’s underwire), at which point he can probably expect a call from lingerie maker Triumph.

Virtual idol Hatsune Miku now has her own line of real intimate apparel 【Photos】

Now you can wear Hatsune Miku lingerie, even if she, lacking a physical body, can’t.

Is virtual idol Hatsune Miku a “real” singer? It depends where you draw the line for what qualifies as acceptable usage of the term.

On one hand, she’s definitely not human, since her voice comes from a Vocaloid sound synthesis program and her appearance is either CG or a hand-drawn illustration, depending on which particular image of her you’re talking about. But at the same time, she’s a majorly successful music act, who’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in show business. Her defenders would further argue that with all the audio processing done to human musicians’ voices during recording, Miku’s vocals aren’t even that fundamentally different from a flesh-and-blood singer’s.

And now comes another example of Miku’s power to make things happen in the physical world, as she’s now got her own lingerie.

hm-5

One of anime and otaku culture fashion label Super Groupies’ latest offerings is the Hatsune Miku bra and pantie set, with a delicate aqua evocative of Miku’s flowing hair serving as the primary hue.

hm-2

hm-33

Just as Miku is involved in numerous multimedia projects, so too is the bra crafted from a variety of materials, with cotton cups, a nylon/polyurethane back section, and polyester used elsewhere. The panties, meanwhile, have a cotton front and polyester/polyurethane blend back.

▼ Lace effects and ribbons provide a generous dose of girlishness.

If you’re looking for more coverage, Super Groupies also has a Hatsune Miku camisole-style negligee.

While the shell is polyester, the cups and back of the negligee have a cotton lining for extra softness on the wearer’s skin.

Super Groupies is currently taking domestic preorders for both items through its website. The Hatsune Miku lingerie, priced at 8,800 yen (US$85) can be ordered here, and you’ll find the 8,500-yen negligee here. Shipping for both is scheduled for March.

Undress a beautiful Japanese gravure idol with the bra strap book band 【Video】

screen-shot-2016-10-29-at-11-56-18

The clever marketing gimmick lets readers undress a gorgeous Japanese woman with their hands as well as their eyes.

In Japan, “gravure idols” are busty swimsuit or lingerie models that often appear in men’s magazines, DVDs and photobooks. Rather than appearing fully nude, the majority of gravure idols appeal to audiences with playfully provocative poses, but nowadays, a number of models are turning heads with unusual collaborations and surprising marketing ploys designed to catch people’s attention.

Ai Okawa, who’s known as “the body most people want to touch”, recently made news in Japan for a genius new idea that involves a special bra strap made for use on her iamai photobook , which is due to appear in stores this month. As her second published collection of photographs in six-and-a-half years, fans will be thrilled to know that the wait was worth it, as they can now get one step closer to feeling her body by hooking and un-hooking a bra strap over an image of her on the book’s back cover.

A number of videos online show how the unusual book band works. Newcomers to the wonders of a real-life bra might first encounter some difficulties when it comes to viewing the model’s bare back in all its glory.

Fans who continue practicing their technique, however, will soon become so skilled at unhooking bras that they’ll be able to unlatch the lacy undergarment with one hand in a couple of seconds.

The idea for the bra band came about after it was suggested by one of the managers tasked with creating a unique “present” for the book’s release. Okawa was delighted with the idea and pushed for it to go ahead.

screen-shot-2016-10-29-at-12-01-33

The only downside to the unusual bra strap book band is its limited availability. The product will only be offered to attendees at one of Okawa’s photo book launch events, held at Osaka on 29 October and in Tokyo on 30 October, where the model will also be present for book signings and handshakes with fans.

For those unable to attend the launch, the idea for the book band is one that can easily be replicated at home. All you need is a sexy bra and some glue to secure it in place, and you too can get up close-and-personal with your favourite model!

Japanese woman’s husband accidentally finds a sweet new use for her bra pads 【Photos】

While they’re designed for breasts, those aren’t the only things they can hold.

In Japan, the prevailing attitude is that food shouldn’t just be delicious to eat, but beautiful to look at. Restaurants give extra attention to how their fare is presented, and even in the home, traditionally meals are arranged on an array of small, specialized dishes, instead of everything just being tossed onto a single plate.

Because of that, if you peek into a Japanese family’s kitchen cabinets, you’re likely to find a large collection of tableware in various shapes and sizes, many with a specific purpose or foodstuff associated with it. Sometimes, there’s so much variety that even the residents of the household themselves can have trouble keeping track of it, as proven by Japanese Twitter user @37_bot, whose husband decided to set out some milk mint hard candies, placing them in a simple but elegant curved candy dish.

Or, more accurately, an elegant curved bra pad from his wife’s lingerie.

2

“Dear husband…that’s not a dish…”

Specifically, the pad comes from one of lingerie manufacturer Triumph’s Sloggi-line bras, touted as being extra-comfortable and easy to move about it.

However, @37_bot mentions that when Sloggi bras are machine-washed, the pads tend to pop out, and are occasionally discovered by other members of her family, with her kid having taken to hanging them on their Christmas tree or tossing them about the home. But while kids will be kids, hopefully her husband won’t repeat his candy serving mistake if company comes over during the winter holidays.

Survey asks Japanese women for the details of their “showdown lingerie”

When you’ve got a big day ahead of you, sometimes a little fashion-based boost can make all the difference.

One of the phrases you won’t find in a textbook for learners of Japanese is shoubu shitagi. Sure, a thorough text will cover shoubu, meaning “to challenge,”or “have a showdown,” and shitagi, the Japanese word for “underwear,” but their meaning when combined is something that most formal courses skip right over.

Shoubu shitagi is usually used in talking about lingerie, and refers to a matched bra and panties a woman wears when she wants to feel especially confident or otherwise powerful during an important event. In a recent poll by Japanese lingerie company Wacoal, 31.7 percent of the respondents (out of a total pool of 1,100 women between the ages of 20 and 49) said that they have shoubu shitagi they wear for romantic dates. 51 percent of those surveyed also said they own a pair of shoubu shitagi for other occasions when they want a mental boost.

20-somethings reported the highest instance of wearing shoubu shitagi in the workplace, something that 48.3 percent said they’ve done to psych themselves up for a crucial meeting or critical project. Among work classifications, those employed in administrative roles had the highest rate of shoubu shitagi use, at 58.5 percent of those polled.

Researchers also noted a difference in shoubu shitagi preferences depending on purpose. While the same hues ended up as the three most popular for both romantic and business shobu shitagi, pink was the top choice among those wearing the special lingerie for a date, followed by black in second place and white in third. On the other hand, black was the number-one pick for workplace shoubu shitagi, trailed by pink, and then, once again in third place, white.

Anime-style illustrated manual explains how to take off a woman’s clothes

Japanese publisher touts the “practical” purpose of its new book.

Given that one of the company’s flagship releases from last spring was How to Draw Panties, it’s probably a safe bet to expect bold things from Japanese publisher Ichijinsha. Even still, guests to your home will likely be surprised if they look at your bookshelf and see the newest Ichijinsha title: The Practical Guide to Taking Off a Girl’s Clothes.

The book’s flowery foreword reads:

“Beyond the process of taking off a girl’s clothes, many dreams unfold. What kind of clothing, and what manner of taking them off, makes a girl’s beauty shine most brightly? And what way of taking them off is your personal ideal?

Everyone will have different answers to these questions, and so this book was created. We hope that all of you holding this book in your hands will be able to find your ideal way of taking off a girl’s clothes.”

The contents are broken down into seven chapters, focusing on fashion subdivisions such as lingerie, school uniforms, and business attire. In total, 85 distinct articles of clothing are covered, including various types of bras, sailor suits, kimono, wedding dresses, maid outfits, bikini armor, flight suits, and cheongsams.

It’s a bit unclear exactly who the target market is for The Practical Guide to Taking Off a Girl’s Clothes. Each entry is accompanied by multiple anime-style illustrations, so fans of sexy Japanese animation can likely squeeze some enjoyment out of looking at the artwork (which occasionally includes exposed nipples). On the other side of the coin, all of those drawings could also be used as reference materials for artists looking to produce art of their own.

nk-1

At the same time, the book does go into thorough detail about how each garment would be removed. The description for the above entry, for a back-hook bra, teaches:

“Unclasp the hooks that connect at the back, and the bra will no longer be bound to the body, making it simple to remove.”

A firm understanding of these processes would, of course, give budding artists a wider variety of poses to choose. That anime art-derived knowledge could also be applied, though, if sexy times were to ensue with a real-life woman (in which case, don’t forget to wear appropriate protection).

The Practical Guide to Taking Off a Girl’s Clothes is available here through Amazon Japan, priced at 2,052 yen (US$18) in physical release form and 1,620 yen for the Kindle version.

Sweet and sexy fashion combines in Japan’s new strawberry and chocolate cake-themed lingerie

Crowdfunding campaign smashes goal as supporters show they have plenty of room for dessert.

Back in the spring, Japanese illustrator Erimo produced an illustration that got plenty of attention. It’s not hard to see why, since it features two anime-style ladies posing in their underwear.

sl-1

But what really helped the drawing stand out in peoples’ minds was the clever design of the lingerie itself, which featured an inventive dessert motif. The white set is modeled after strawberry shortcake, and the brown on chocolate cake. Rather than let this innovative idea be confined to the 2-D realm, Erimo teamed up with “sweets artist” mia and lingerie designer Reine Narumi to bring the cake-inspired bra and panty sets to the real world.

sl-2

To accomplish that goal, the trio set up a campaign on Japanese crowdfunding site Campfire for what it’s dubbed the Sweets Lingerie project (which has the more alliterative name of “Sweets Shitagi” in Japanese).

sl-5

▼ Strawberry shortcake prototype

sl-3

▼ Chocolate cake prototype

sl-4

While the lingerie is undeniably the main attraction here, the design team has gone the extra mile and recreated all of the apparel seen in Erimo’s original concept, including the hair accessories, knee-high socks, and even the shoes from the illustration.

sl-6

sl-7

sl-8

sl-10

The crowdfunding campaign was initially seeking one million yen (US$8,550), but its backers have proven to be far more generous, showering the project with 3.751 million yen even as 44 days remain in the campaign. The savvily set tiers understand that there are plenty of men who would be happy to know this lingerie exists, but aren’t personally in the market for a bra and panties. Lower-priced tiers, starting at 3,000 yen, instead include rewards such as photos, post cards, and plastic files bearing the likenesses of the Sweets Lingerie’s anime and real-world spokesmodels. Packages featuring the knee-high socks start at 7,000 yen, the lingerie itself at 12,000, and the shoes at 28,000.

If any of that sounds like a sweet deal to you, the Sweets Lingerie crowdfunding campaign website can be found here.

Mysterious “Bra Temple” makes news around Japan

Did you know that a bra temple exists in Japan?

If you’re looking for a scary encounter in Japan, there are hundreds of abandoned ruins dotted around the country that will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as soon as you step inside. Called “haikyo“, these dilapidated, hidden buildings often contain household items and treasured mementos inside, covered in dust and arranged just as their former residents would have left them, making it seem like the ghosts of the departed are still hanging around, watching your every move.

While these places are popular among haikyo enthusiasts, there’s one abandoned building that’s currently making news around Japan for being one of the most eerie ever discovered. The reason for its notoriety is the fact that one of its rooms is filled with…women’s lingerie. What’s making it even more disturbing is the fact that these undergarments have been spread out on display, hanging from the ceiling inside a former Buddhist temple.

▼ Called the “Bra Temple”, the story is so strange it’s even been featured on Japanese television.

The exact whereabouts of the temple is known only to people active in the haikyo community, but despite its secret location, there are a number of photos showing what the place looks like on social media.

▼ The building sits in a quiet area at the top of an old disused set of stone stairs, slowly being consumed by the nature that flourishes alongside it.

Instagram Photo

From the outside, the run-down temple building looks like nothing out of the ordinary, but inside it’s a very different story.

The room that’s freaking everyone out here contains a bed and a collection of bras and garter belts, strewn across the walls and ceiling.

Instagram Photo

▼ There are even a couple of pairs of stockings at the back of the room.

Instagram Photo

While it looks like an avante-garde art installation in the light of day, at night, the place becomes incredibly spooky.

The bizarre interior decorations first appeared about six years ago, and since then the place has been drawing haikyo enthusiasts from around the country, who’ve dubbed it the “bra temple”.

For many visitors though, it’s not the bras and garter belts that are disturbing, but the paraphernalia located around the room. There’s a small naked doll nailed to the wall, occult items, and photos of a smiling woman, whose name appears on strips of paper around the room.

According to a note next to a pile of palm-sized questionnaires for visitors to fill in, the unusual-looking room is said to be an art display.

Some visitors remain unconvinced, however, with the temple’s chequered past making a grudge like this seem not so far-fetched, given that the temple was closed in 2002 following complaints that it was overcharging people for services. According to reports, the buildings on the grounds were all built using funds from people who had been deceived, earning it the nickname “Swindler’s Temple”.

Still today, the mini Golden Hall on the premises remains untouched, with “ihai” spirit tablets containing the posthumous names of local deceased ancestors creating a mystical scene.

Instagram Photo

The jury is out on whether Swindler’s Temple, or Bra Temple, is the work of a person with a grudge or a bemused local artist. Given the secrecy surrounding its location, however, it’s a mystery that may very well remain unsolved for years to come.

If you’re after more spooky adventures on holy grounds, the shrine of the dolls will be right up your alley. Personally though, we’ll be sticking to more sedate pilgrimages, preferably with cute and cuddly cats involved.

Japanese Twitter user causes stir with panty-proliferating anime art edit

Technique transforms otherwise ordinary moments into subtly suggestive scenes.

While there are plenty of anime which are created with the purpose of telling a story or exploring a theme, there are no shortage of titles that exist merely to show visuals that a particular audience will find attractive. Those visuals can take the form of heart-pounding action sequences, emotional displays of romance, or, sometimes, just whole bunch of panties.

But fans of that last motif sometimes run into a problem when they’re watching a scene that doesn’t include underwear. That seems to have been the jam that Japanese Twitter user @yunita_a found himself in, and so took the only course of action that would solve his problem, then shared his solution with his online followers.

▼ “Try adding panties to otherwise ordinary anime scenes.”

By adding a bit of artwork to the characters legs, @yunita_a not only ads an eyeful of undergarments, but also creates the atmosphere that the characters are naked under their skirts. Some online commenters speculated that e did this by using an automated program developed three years ago by Anoron, a technologically inclined group that often displays its unusual scientific endeavors at the Comiket anime and manga fan event. However, links to the program in question’s website are no longer operable, and so it appears that @yunita_a made his additions to the artwork by hand, causing several individuals with similar tastes to declare him “a genius.”

While the resulting image is indeed suggestive, the fact that only additions have been made to the artwork would mean that, within the reality of the anime itself, all of those characters now have two pairs of underwear on, with one around their knew and the other around their hips, though perhaps some of those appreciative of the artistic edit will mind having even more panties in the scene.

Japanese vending machine panties aren’t dirty at all when they’re keeping your furniture clean

The new year brings a new set of underwear options for plastic drinking bottles.

Since Japan’s Kitan Club makes items to be sold in Japan’s gachapon capsule toy vending machines, most would call the organization a toy manufacturer, or perhaps a novelty item maker. You could argue, though, that Kitan Club is also a lingerie company.

Granted, Kitan Club isn’t too concerned about what humans are wearing for the innermost layer of clothing. Instead, its designers are dedicated to making sure your plastic drink bottle has a full range of cute and sexy panties.

bp-2

More so than the modesty of your bottle of tea or soda, what Kitan Club wants to protect is the finish of your furniture. So instead of sensual silk, these panties are made of a thick, absorbent material to soak up condensation and keep your desk or table from getting wet.

This is the company’s third round of bottle-specific lingerie, and aside from the sky blue number above, the available styles include sexy “adult”…

bp-3

…playful “cherry”…

bp-4

…bold “oni,” which takes its name from the tiger pelt-loving demons of Japanese folklore…

bp-5

…brightly colored “fluffy”…

bp-6

…and understated and unusually named “pumpkin.”

▼ We’d have guessed “pumpkin” was the orange pair, but nope, Kitan Club says it’s this one.

bp-7

There’s also a seventh, still-under-wraps “secret” pair of panties, waiting for lucky gachapon customers to discover. The panties are priced at 200 yen (US$1.70) each, available at gachapon machines across Japan, and guaranteed to have people doing a double-take no matter where you use them.

“Step forward! Warrior of Love, it’s time to show your love of panties!”

As far as weird games go, Panty Party has to be right up there with the best of them. And panties flying around in high-speed battles may not even be the weirdest part about it – the dialogue may have the game concept beat by a long shot.

Apparently as the game player you become the “Warrior of Love” who must “save humans from evil intentions” and “from being transformed into panties!”

You can check out the game video trailer here:

And a second one here:

According to the official website, “At the moment entering the game, you feel the mood (sic) of foolish and excitement – Panty Party!”

Panty Party is a “fast-paced battle game” that involves seeking out other panties and destroying them with a range of weapons including guns and samurai swords. Your main objective is to “fly as a panty in a daily life street and in-between buildings” and “search for the enemy panties and kick their bad ass!”

screen-shot-2017-01-27-at-3-23-14-pm

You can choose to play as “White Panty”, “Bear Panty”, “Stripe Panty” or “Sailor Panty”. What kind of anime video game would it be without the sailor uniform design in there somewhere?

“The White Panty is soft, the Bear Panty is fierce, the Stripe Panty is classic and the Sailor Panty– it’s your first heard of it.”

▼ Cool Kuma (bear) even speaks from the Bear Panty

The Taiwanese developers of this mobile game (Animu Game) describe themselves as a “small group of anime/game fans who make anime-inspired games”. Oddly, the game trailer videos released so far only include Japanese voice with English subtitles. They must have decided Japan is the primary target market for panty fighting video games.

▼ “Don’t put on a coat… face your real self. Your original appearance, I might like it?” says anime girl Yurika.

Panty Party will set you back 980 yen (US$8.50), but you can currently buy the game from the STEAM website with a 10% discount for 882 yen.

But be warned the content in Panty Party “may not be appropriate for all ages” and “may not be appropriate for viewing at work”.

Japanese artist reimagines chess pieces as sexy line of lingerie

Get ready for checkmate with this stunning “Chess Bra” collection.

Ever since Twitter user @papao_pao caught our attention with an illustrated range of Mobile Suit Gundam lingerie last year, the talented dojinshi, or independent comic, artist has been hard at work creating even more sketches of inspired undergarments.

This time, papao_pao, who goes by the name Pao, has combined the world of chess with skimpy attire, incorporating chequerboard patterns and chess piece shapes to create a gorgeous collection we’d love to see come to life in the real world.

First up in the illustrated range is the Rook Bra. In the game of chess, the rook plays a pivotal offensive and defensive role, and this outfit lets you emulate all the strong, confident moves of the piece, with lace frills around the top and pants resembling turret walls.

Next up is the Bishop Babydoll, which has been designed to exude a pure and intellectual type of sex appeal. The see-through garments include chequerboard details and a beautiful representation of the bishop chess piece in the curves around the bust.

Given that a good bishop in chess is on the opposite colour to its pawns, while a bad bishop is on the same colour as its pawns, the matching white colours of the two-piece set is said to create a naughty-but-nice “Bad Bishop Babydoll“.

The King Bra is a stately black three-piece that goes all out in luxury, featuring details from both the crown-adorned King chess piece and the Rook, as a nod to the fact that these two pieces are able to change places in a chess move known as “castling.”

The Queen Teddy is inspired by the most powerful piece in the game of chess, featuring tiara-shaped frills and a number of fluid design details reflecting the Queen’s ability to move any number of squares horizontally, diagonally or vertically.

With four designs so far in the “Chess Bra” collection, we’re keen to find out what the last two pieces from the game of chess, the knight and the pawn, will look like as illustrated undergarments.

Given the popularity of Pao’s creative designs, and their ability to work as real-life garments, we hope one day the chess-inspired lingerie line will be available for us to enjoy in the real world too.

Video reminds us that in the anime world absolutely anything can have panties – even fighter jets

It’s unclear what exactly this new Internet anime series is about, except, of course, panties.

It’s no secret that anime artists liberally sprinkle panty shots throughout their works. Granted, with the medium’s penchant for tossing characters clad in short skirts into action adventure scenarios, sometimes there’s a bit of logic behind it. Heroines pulling off high kicks or backflips are going to occasionally reveal an eyeful of their undies simply because of physics, for instance.

But at other times, the panty flashes are a bit more gratuitous. This brings us to the first Henkei Shojo (“Transformation Girls”) anime teaser, which starts off with a young woman in a sundres standing in the middle of a windswept field of grass. This seems like an obvious panty shot opportunity. A strong gust of wind is coming, and it’s going to lift up that gossamer dress, right?

But no, Henkei Shojo is taking the high road here. All the wind does is blow the straw hat off her head, which prompts a schoolgirl named Haru to shout “Let me take care of it” and leap after it, stretching out her hand in a pose evocative of anime director Mamoru Hosoda’s The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

OK, this must be where the panty shot is coming, right? Maybe she’s going to lose her footing as she comes back down, tumbling into a heap with her backside sticking up in the air as clumsy anime girls are so apt to do, right?

But it turns out that Henkei Shojo isn’t interested in such tired, cliched ways to show the audience panties. Instead, it’s interested in bold, unprecedented ways to show panties.

Just as it seems like the wind is going to carry the hat out of Haru’s reach for good, she transforms into a fighter jet reminiscent of the F-15 Eagle. It’s not a complete transformation, though, as she retains certain aspects of her human form and attire, such as her schoolgirl-standard loafers and the pleats of her skirt. Oh, and of course, figter jet-version Haru still has her striped panties.

Aside from her haunches, the only part of Haru’s human anatomy represented in her post-transformation state is, perhaps not surprisingly at this point, her cleavage.

▼ The logic is puzzling, but at least constant.

The mechanized Haru hits the afterburners and catches up to the errant hat in no time, catching it deftly on the tip of her left wing. However, rather than come back and return the hat it its owner, Haru just keeps flying off into the horizon, making this one of the most complex and confusing thefts ever animated.

▼ This cannot be the easiest way to obtain summer fashion accessories.

Another head-scratcher is just what exactly Henkei Shojo is supposed to be. The above video is the only content currently available, aside from an official website that shows four other characters who presumably transform into ordinarily inanimate objects thoroughly enough to perform said items functions, but not so completely as to conceal their lingerie preferences.

The most likely scenario is that the video is the opening salvo of an aspiring character-driven multi-media franchise of the sort that’s become increasingly common in recent years, with producers no doubt hoping to create enough buzz for a smartphone game, late-night TV anime, and/or mountains of associated merchandise. Whether any or all of that pans out, though, likely depends on the success of the web shorts, which are scheduled to be released at a rate of one a month between through August.

One Piece official lingerie and bikinis: further proof that the pirate anime is for grown-ups too

Japanese intimate apparel company that brought us Sailor Moon panties turns its eyes to another icon of the anime world.

Though it’s serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, a manga anthology aimed primarily at pre-college-age males, pirate saga One Piece has been running for 20 years now, making it old enough to indulge in some sexy sideprojects. The anime/manga franchise also has plenty of female fans, which brings us to its latest collaborative venture.

Intimate apparel company Peach John has just announced its first-ever tie up with One Piece, with the first batch of related merchandise set to go on sale later this month. Four of the series most popular female characters will be represented in a collection of bathing suits and lingerie, starting with the Nami swimwear set, which consists of a bikini top, bottom, and pair of shorts for 8,980 yen (US$81).

Slightly pricier is the 9,980-yen Robin swimwear set, which comes with a top that provides a little more coverage than Nami’s, and also replaces the short shorts with a more modest wrap.

For those not planning to spend time poolside or seaside, there’s the 7,980 yen Hancock bra set, in which it’s unclear if the included skirt is meant to be worn with a pair of panties or in lieu of them.

And finally, curvaceous mermaid princess Shirahoshi also has a bra and skirt set, priced at 7,980 yen.

Peach John has even more One Piece merch up its sleeve, with a line of roomwear saluting protagonist Luffy as well as Law, Chopper, bon Clay, Sabo, and Koala. Though the exact items won’t be revealed until April 10, the company has promised there will be items men can enjoy too.

Peach John’s One Piece bras and swimsuits go on sale April 12, and can be purchased through its online shop or its branches in Tokyo’s Shibuya and Ikebukuro, as well as the Peach John location in Osaka’s Namba. Considering how quickly its previously Sailor Moon lingerie lines have sold out, interested shoppers will want to act quickly.
